In celebration of 2020 World Wildlife Day (#WWD2020), Swiss Travel is proud to reaffirm its commitment with nature and the protection of wildlife through its many sustainability programs.
Created by United Nations General Assembly, every year, on March 3rd, WWD celebrates and raises awareness of the world’s wild flora and fauna.
Swiss Travel has certifications that acknowledge its commitment in environmental and natural resources protection, as a source of income for thousands of families in Costa Rica.
The Ministry of Enviroment and Energy (MINAE) certified in 2017 as a Carbon Neutral company, and “Blue Flag” in climate change category.
Both recognitions where attained thanks to the management of greenhouse gases emissions, planning of more adequate routes and use of transportation for clients with clean technologies, the efficient use of energy resources, waste waters treatment and the investment on solar panels and efficient air conditioning for its facilities.
Since 2006, the Company received certification in Sustainable Tourism by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, for its good environmental practices, generation of socio-economic development in communities, environmental and cultural education in services offered.
In 2019, Swiss Travel allied with MINAE and ICT in the creation of the campaign #StopAnimalSelfies, an initiative that promotes tourists to enjoy natural wildlife with safe practices to protect animals. Find out more about this program at https://stopanimalselfies.org/.
